Is Greek More Expressive Than English?
here. Take a look at it. I often hear people talk about how Greek can say things that we just can't translate into English. Greek, it is sometimes said, has these special little nuances and special cues that are hidden from a receptor language, out of its reach, and far superior to that language, English included. I don't think any language is more expressive than another. That's a basic tenet in linguistics, but one that hasn't always been embraced by those who study the Greek New Testament.
